Looking back through this term into Unit 3 where we assesssed ourselves on three levels: spiritual, psychological, and physical; I believe improvement was made in the area of psychological and physical well being. Incorporating exercise into my daily routine and training my mind to be still are two of the main changes I have made since beginning this class. If I had to rate myself on all three, I would have to say that my spiritual self would hold the highest score of an 8 out of 1-10 with 10 being the highest. Psychological and physical are rated a little less at about a 6.5. Improvement needed here, however, it is better than when I started this class. The score has changed somewhat because I have been more consistent and arrived at a more consistent place as far as practicing these techniques.
Personally, this course has helped me to train my mind into being still and removing mental chatter so that I can truly be in touch with my inner self. It's really not so bad in there! And believe that I will continue to grow on my life's journey. The ability to be at peace with my self will allow me to offer loving kindness in everything I do, say and think. Extending loving kindness to strangers is not as much of a challenge now that I am more relaxed. Some days I have to remind myself of this technique and find that when I do practice loving kindness, I don't sweat the small stuff as much. I believe I feel better when I exercise, eat right, make quiet time for myself, and get enough sleep.
Peace to everyone inside and out!
Hi Caroline!!
ReplyDeleteWe will always be a working progress, and no one will ever be a perfect score-its hard to stay a consistent 10/10. I am very glad to hear about your progress since Unit 3, I as well as you in my aspect of spiritualism has the highest score. I feel that with my spiritualism throughout the course has gotten stronger, and I have found my true inner self; love and kindness. Good luck to you and your journey!!
I think that it is great you rate yourself highest in your spiritual self. I think most people struggle in that area. It can be hard for many people to delve into their spiritual/psychological area fo wellness and really open up and be true to themselves in their weaknesses and what needs to be fixed or made stronger. It is great to know that the Loving Kindess exercise has helped you so much.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a pleasure being in class with you and keeping up with our blogs. I agree with your comment about feeling better when we exercise, eat right, get plenty of rest and make some “me” time. I find myself getting out of routine quite often and frequently reevaluating my schedule and fitting in a good night sleep and a little quiet time. I can tell when I need to revamp my schedule. I start to feel loss of concentration, fatigued, and just out of tune. Hopefully, with practice, I can stay in tune more than out in the future. Lots of luck to you.
ReplyDeleteI am really happy that you have improved in all aspects of integral health even if you feel that they still require improvement. If your spiritual wellness is the highest of all the aspects I believe you are well on your way to a great overall wellness because it took quite sometime for me to see any improvements in that area. The mental chatter is something that I have seen dreamatic improvements as well because I could not stop the noise during meditation in the beginining of class. Good luck on your progression to a more flourishing mind!
